Not every plastic part on a data center or industrial campus is a duct bank spacer. Equipment covers, shrouds, housings, trays, cable organizers, large panels, and cabinet skins need formed depth and finished edges. Blue Ridge Thermoforming (BRT USA) builds those as heavy-gauge thermoformed parts in Greenville, SC, then CNC-trims them so openings and perimeters match the design.
This article covers the thermoforming half of BRT’s data-center plastic story. For underground CNC HDPE spacers, use the spacer pages instead. The two processes share a plant and a quote form, but they are not the same fabrication path.
Heavy-gauge thermoforming suits parts that start as sheet, are heated and formed over a tool, then trimmed:
Industrial OEMs and data-center facility teams both land in this family. The application language on BRT’s pages is industrial and facility-oriented.
Heavy-gauge work at BRT typically sits in the 0.030-0.500 in material range, with a forming envelope up to 60 × 100 in. Materials listed for the data-center plastic parts line include:
Material selection follows the drawing, environment (indoor vs outdoor exposure), cosmetic requirements, and any owner specification. Ask for a grade recommendation rather than assuming one resin covers every cover or housing. Outdoor exposure, impact, and color needs should be stated on the RFQ when they matter to the install. BRT does not invent UV, fire, or dielectric ratings in this article.
Forming creates the shape. In-house 5-axis CNC trimming creates assembly-ready edges, holes, and cutouts. That combination is the same plant capability used across BRT’s heavy-gauge work: tooling, forming, CNC trimming, and assembly under one roof at 184 Commerce Center, Greenville, SC 29615. The quality system is certified to ISO 9001:2015.
For electronics enclosures and kiosks specifically, BRT also publishes process detail on CNC trimming as a finishing step after thermoforming. That is adjacent capability language. It is not the same article topic as CNC sheet routing of flat HDPE duct bank spacers.
Heavy-gauge thermoforming often wins when:
Injection molding can still be the right answer for small, high-volume components. BRT’s role here is thermoformed covers and housings (plus CNC sheet spacers on the other line). If you are comparing thermoformed OEM housings to injection generally, treat that as a separate design conversation and bring drawings either way.
The hub page custom plastic parts for data centers splits the story cleanly:
Use equipment covers and kiosks when the RFQ is cover/housing/kiosk shaped. Use the spacer URLs when the RFQ is an underground conduit array. Do not ask the thermoforming line to “form” a duct bank spacer, and do not ask the CNC sheet line to form a deep cover.
BRT’s equipment covers and kiosks offering highlights ISO 9001:2015 certified processes with inspection and documentation, in-house tooling/forming/CNC trimming/assembly, design-for-manufacturability guidance from concept through production, and scalable production from prototype through higher-volume runs. Use that as planning context, not as a guarantee of a specific unit price or calendar date. Put need-by dates and revision freezes on the quote.
Data center campus projects often buy covers in parallel with CNC duct bank spacers. Keep RFQs labeled so thermoforming jobs and sheet-routing jobs do not get mixed in programming. The spacer path is documented on duct bank spacers and data center duct bank spacers. Capabilities overview: /capabilities.
No. Duct bank spacers are CNC-routed HDPE sheet. Covers and housings are the thermoformed family.
Forming envelope up to 60 × 100 in, with heavy gauge typically 0.030-0.500 in depending on the part and material.
Yes. Engineering support from concept through production is part of the equipment covers and kiosks offering, including tooling and CNC trim planning.
