Custom Desktop Processor Trays

Blue Ridge Thermoforming builds custom desktop CPU trays for LGA and AM packages, with high-density counts and clear or black static-dissipative materials for grading.

Desktop processors still vary by socket, generation, and heatspreader height. A desktop CPU tray pockets the package you actually handle, from current LGA1700 and LGA1851 parts to LGA115x families and AMD AM4 and AM5 packages.

High-density counts suit bulk pulls, retail kitting, and refurbishment benches. Clear static-dissipative trays let a grader see the part without lifting it. Black dissipative and conductive options stay available when the process calls for them.

Pockets tooled to the desktop package

LGA and AM sockets

We name the pocket for the package: an LGA1700 CPU tray, an LGA1851 layout, an LGA1151 CPU tray and the rest of the LGA115x family, an AM4 CPU tray, or an AM5 tray. Newer sockets are tooled from your sample.

High-density counts

Desktop packages are smaller than server CPUs, so a tray can hold a dense grid that matches your lot, test fixture, or shipper. Interlocking stacks keep that grid aligned in a carton.

Pin and pad isolation

Cavity walls and optional lids or cover plates keep contact pads off the plastic and stop parts from rotating when a stack is moved.

One family or one socket

A shared layout can cover similar footprints in one processor family. Distinct sockets get their own pockets when a shared cavity would leave a part loose.

Static-control materials

  • Clear or black static-dissipative options are available when a lot needs visual inspection, alongside conductive materials for the most sensitive parts.
  • Static-dissipative, conductive, and anti-static materials for handling, storage, and shipment.
  • ESD-grade PET and rPET and anti-static HIPS.
  • Thin-gauge trays are reusable and durable for repeated handling, stacking, and shipment.

Grading, kitting, and resale

  • Clear trays for visual grading without extra handling
  • Counts set to the lot size your bench already uses
  • Lids for retail-bound lots and open stacks for in-plant moves
  • Single-processor presentation on the CPU clamshell page when a part ships alone

Desktop trays beside server trays

A refurbisher often pulls both desktop and server processors. Desktop trays stay on this page. Larger Xeon and EPYC packages use server CPU trays so the pocket depth matches the part.

Send the socket, a sample, and the count you want. We prototype the tray, fit-check it, and produce it in Greenville, SC. The custom CPU trays page is the overview if you handle more than one package family.

Production runs at low or high volume under ISO 9001:2015 quality processes, made in Greenville, SC.

Desktop CPU Tray FAQs

Which desktop sockets can you tray?

LGA1700, LGA1851, the LGA115x family, AM4, AM5, and any newer package you can sample or draw. The pocket is tooled to the part.

Can the tray be clear for grading?

Yes. Clear or black static-dissipative materials are available so graders can inspect parts in the pocket.

What are your minimums and lead times?

Depends on part and volume. Send your counts and we'll quote it.
