Custom Trays for Electronics and IT Components
Blue Ridge Thermoforming designs and thin-gauge thermoforms custom trays and clamshells for electronic and IT components. Every tray starts with your part.
Request a QuotePocket geometry is matched to the component, count is set by your process, and the static-control material is chosen for the part's sensitivity. That holds whether you run an assembly line, a refurbishment operation, or a data-center decommissioning project.
These are custom electronics trays, quoted from a drawing or a sample. Catalog counts are a starting point for the conversation. The tool is built to your part in Greenville, SC.
What we build trays for
Processors
Server and desktop CPUs, Xeon- and EPYC-class packages, and single-CPU clamshells.
Memory
DDR5 and DDR4 DIMMs, RDIMM and LRDIMM, SODIMM, and module clamshells.
Storage
M.2 and NVMe SSDs in common lengths, plus 2.5 inch and 3.5 inch drives with or without caddies.
Networking
SFP, QSFP, QSFP-DD, and OSFP transceivers, plus PCIe cards, NICs, and GPUs.
IT assets and devices
Trays for decommissioning workflows, and thermoformed inserts for phones, tablets, laptops, mini PCs, and 1U or 2U servers.
Components
Matrix trays for ICs and small parts, and the broader ESD tray program.
Built around your part
- Pockets sized from your CAD, drawing, or a sample part
- Counts per tray that match your lots, test fixtures, or line rate
- Lids, base-and-lid sets, cover plates, interlocking stacks, and nest-and-stack designs
- Mixed or multi-size layouts when one tray should hold a family of parts
- Consistent orientation for manual pick or robotic handling

Static control matched to your components
Static-dissipative, conductive, and anti-static materials, including ESD-grade PET and rPET and anti-static HIPS, are selected for the sensitivity of the component. Clear or black static-dissipative options are available for inspection and grading. ESD and anti-static packaging describes the protection levels.
Built for ITAD, refurbishment, and data centers
When components are pulled from retired servers, trays keep every part protected, counted, and lot-sorted through testing, grading, storage, and resale. Blue Ridge Thermoforming supplies the packaging. Pulling, testing, and recovery stay with your team. ITAD packaging maps the workflow.
How a custom tray project works
- Send a drawing, CAD, or sample part, plus your count and volume.
- We engineer the tray and recommend a material.
- Prototype and fit-check with your parts.
- Production runs at low or high volume under ISO 9001:2015 quality processes, made in Greenville, SC.
Electronics Tray FAQs
Can you make trays for new processor or module packages?
Yes. Custom tooling is built to the part, so a new form factor does not have to wait for a catalog.
What do you need for a quote?
Part dimensions or a sample, parts per tray, lid and stacking needs, the ESD requirement, and annual volume.
What are your minimums and lead times?
Depends on part and volume. Send your counts and we'll quote it.
Do you make clamshells as well as trays?
Yes. Single- and multi-part clamshells are built the same way, for processors, memory, drives, and other components.
Quote a tray built for your part
Send your part and counts, and we will quote a tray built for it.
