Custom PCIe Card and Network Adapter Trays

Blue Ridge Thermoforming builds custom PCIe card trays and clamshells for network adapters, add-in cards, and GPUs, with bracket clearance formed into the pocket.

Add-in cards are awkward in a bin: the bracket, the gold fingers, and the components on the board all need a place to sit. PCI card packaging from a custom tray holds the card on edge or flat, the way your process moves it.

That includes NICs and larger GPUs. A GPU tray is tooled to the length and height of the card you send, across the size range in your lot.

Pockets for the card and the bracket

Bracket clearance

The cavity leaves room for a full-height or low-profile bracket so the metal is not bent against the next card.

NICs and add-in cards

A PCIe card tray or a network card clamshell follows the board outline and keeps the edge connector off the plastic. NIC packaging can be a bulk tray or a single-card shell.

GPU size range

Longer, taller cards get a pocket sized to that card. Mixed GPU lengths can share a tray when you want one handling unit, or they can have dedicated tools.

Stacks and lids

Interlocking stacks and lids keep cards from shifting. Counts follow the lot or the shipper.

Static-control materials

  • Static-dissipative and conductive materials for board-level parts.
  • Clear or black static-dissipative options are available when a lot needs visual inspection, alongside conductive materials for the most sensitive parts.
  • ESD-grade PET and rPET and anti-static HIPS.
  • Thin-gauge trays are reusable and durable for repeated handling, stacking, and shipment.

Cards pulled from servers

  • Sort NICs and GPUs into trays at the pull bench
  • Single-card clamshells for resale units
  • Optics from the same servers on transceiver trays
  • Production runs at low or high volume under ISO 9001:2015 quality processes, made in Greenville, SC.

Network cards and GPUs in one program

A server teardown yields NICs, HBAs, and sometimes GPUs. Each card family can have a tray that matches its bracket and length so gold fingers stay clean.

Send a sample card, the count, and whether you need a tray or a clamshell. Server component packaging ties this page to CPUs, memory, and drives. We supply the packaging only.

Low-profile and full-height brackets should be called out on the sample. The pocket can be dedicated to one bracket style or split so both styles stay oriented in the same lot. Gold fingers stay off the cavity wall in either layout.

PCIe Card Tray FAQs

Can you tray GPUs as well as NICs?

Yes. A GPU tray is tooled to the card length and height you send, including longer add-in cards.

How do you handle the bracket?

Bracket clearance is formed into the pocket so the bracket is not crushed against the next card.

What are your minimums and lead times?

Depends on part and volume. Send your counts and we'll quote it.
