Custom Packaging for Server Components

Blue Ridge Thermoforming thermoforms custom server component packaging so CPUs, memory, drives, optics, and cards stay protected and lot-sorted after they leave the chassis.

A retired server is a set of valuable parts. Server component packaging is the tray set that keeps those parts from becoming a mixed bin: processors, memory, drives, transceivers, and cards, each in a pocket built for that part.

This page is the overview. Each part family has its own tray. Data center plastic parts covers housings and other formed plastic for the data center beyond these thin-gauge trays.

A tray for each part that leaves the server

Processors

Server CPU trays for Xeon and EPYC packages, plus the custom CPU trays overview for mixed processor work.

Memory and storage

DDR5 DIMM trays, memory module trays, M.2 SSD trays, and hard drive trays cover the modules and drives pulled from the same chassis.

Optics and cards

Transceiver trays and PCIe card trays hold SFPs, QSFP and OSFP modules, NICs, and GPUs with the clearances those parts need.

One workflow, several tools

Counts, lids, and interlocking stacks are set per part so a lot stays together from the pull bench to test, storage, and resale.

Static-control materials

  • Static-dissipative, conductive, and anti-static materials selected per component.
  • Clear or black static-dissipative options are available when a lot needs visual inspection, alongside conductive materials for the most sensitive parts.
  • ESD-grade PET and rPET and anti-static HIPS.
  • Thin-gauge trays are reusable and durable for repeated handling, stacking, and shipment.

Decommission packaging, part by part

  • Map each pulled commodity to a tray or clamshell
  • Prototype from samples taken off the line
  • Stack and label by lot without mixing part types
  • ITAD packaging walks the full pull-to-resale sequence

Data-center packaging for the parts, not the rack

Data center packaging often means the crate around a chassis. Server parts trays are the layer inside that flow: the plastic that touches the component. That is what we thermoform.

Send the parts you pull most often, with counts. We will quote the set. Server decommission packaging here is the packaging we form. Your team still pulls, tests, grades, and recovers the parts.

Start with the three parts that move the most value, usually processors, memory, and drives, and add optics and cards when those lots are large enough to need their own pocket.

Production runs at low or high volume under ISO 9001:2015 quality processes, made in Greenville, SC.

Server Component Packaging FAQs

Can one project cover CPUs, memory, and drives?

Yes. We quote each tray from the sample for that part and keep the designs in one program.

Do you package the whole server chassis?

These pages cover component trays and clamshells. Thermoformed inserts for 1U and 2U chassis are on the server shipping inserts page. Data center plastic parts covers other formed plastic for data centers.

What are your minimums and lead times?

Depends on part and volume. Send your counts and we'll quote it.

Quote server component trays

Send the parts you pull and the counts per tray. We will quote packaging built for those components.
