Custom M.2 and NVMe SSD Trays
Blue Ridge Thermoforming builds custom ESD trays and clamshells for M.2 NVMe and SATA SSDs, with pockets tooled to the standard 22 mm width in the lengths you handle.
Request a QuoteM.2 drives are small, thin, and easy to damage at the connector, so they need trays that hold every length securely. An M.2 SSD tray pockets the 22 mm board at the length you run, from a short 2230 to a long 22110.
NVMe and SATA M.2 drives share that width. The difference that matters for the tool is length, component height, and whether the drive is single- or double-sided.
Every common M.2 length
2230 through 22110
2230, 2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110. An M.2 2280 tray, an M.2 2230 tray, or an M.2 22110 tray can be its own tool, or one tray can carry a mixed lot when you want several lengths in one handling unit.
Connector and component protection
Pocket geometry supports the board, protects the edge connector, and clears components on single- or double-sided drives. Depth follows the drives you send.
Trays and clamshells
Bulk trays with lids for storage and shipping, plus an M.2 clamshell for a single drive headed to resale. Clamshell packaging covers the general retail format.
Counts and stacks
Set the count to the lot, the test fixture, or the carton. Lids and interlocking stacks keep drives seated.
Static-control materials
- Dissipative and conductive materials protect flash and controller components from ESD.
- Clear or black static-dissipative options are available when a lot needs visual inspection, alongside conductive materials for the most sensitive parts.
- ESD-grade PET and rPET and anti-static HIPS.
- Thin-gauge trays are reusable and durable for repeated handling, stacking, and shipment.

Storage pulls and resale
- One length per tray, or a mixed-length layout for a blended lot
- Base-and-lid sets for shipment
- Single-drive clamshells for graded resale
- 2.5 inch and 3.5 inch drives on the hard drive tray page
M.2 trays in a refresh
Data-center and laptop refreshes pull a mix of M.2 lengths. A custom NVMe SSD tray keeps each length located so connectors are not the first thing to hit the bottom of a bin.
Send the lengths, whether drives are double-sided, and the count. We will quote an M.2 tray or clamshell. Hard drive trays cover the larger SATA and SAS drives from the same pull.
Mixed-length layouts keep a blended lot in one handling unit when your bench already sorts by capacity instead of by form factor. Dedicated tools are the better fit when a picker should only ever see one length.
Production runs at low or high volume under ISO 9001:2015 quality processes, made in Greenville, SC.
M.2 SSD Tray FAQs
Can you make one tray for multiple M.2 lengths?
Yes. One length per tray, or a mixed layout for the lengths you want in the same lot.
Do you support double-sided drives?
Yes. We size pocket depth to your drives, including components on both sides of the board.
What are your minimums and lead times?
Depends on part and volume. Send your counts and we'll quote it.
